Gene Achziger has served on the Des Moines City Council since January 2022. He has a background as a Highline College adjunct journalism professor, aquatics consultant, and grant writer. Achziger has a long history of community activism, including involvement in efforts to build Wooton Park and save the Mount Rainier Pool.
