Wiley Nickel is an attorney who has served in various public service roles. He worked in President Barack Obama's White House before being elected to the North Carolina State Senate, where he served two terms. In 2022, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for North Carolina's 13th district, serving one term. He chose not to seek reelection to Congress after legislative redistricting made the district more Republican-leaning. He briefly campaigned for the U.S. Senate in 2026 before withdrawing to run for District Attorney.
