Gilbert Benavides is a multi-generational New Mexican who has resided in the Village of Los Ranchos for 38 years. He is a licensed professional engineer and previously led teams at Sandia National Laboratories. Prior to being elected to the Board of Trustees, he served as a planning and zoning commissioner. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Science from Stanford University. As a hobby, he grows grapes and makes wine. He was appointed by the mayor to the board for the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.
