Gina Hinojosa is a Democratic state representative for Texas House District 49 (2017–present). A civil rights and union lawyer, she earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from George Washington University. Before entering the Legislature she served on the Austin ISD school board and was appointed its president in 2015.
