Greg Lopez, born Gregorio Beltran Lopez in Dallas, Texas, is a seasoned Colorado politician. He began his political career as Mayor of Parker, serving from 1992 to 1996 as a Democrat before changing to the Republican party in 1994. He later directed the Small Business Administration's Colorado office from 2008 to 2014 and briefly served as a U.S. Representative for Colorado's 4th congressional district from June 2024 to January 2025. Lopez is launching his third gubernatorial campaign for 2026, having previously sought the Republican nomination in 2018 and 2022. He announced in late 2025 that he has become unaffiliated, believing that both major parties prioritize fundraising over problem-solving and that leaders should think for themselves. His platform emphasizes "people over politics," aiming to cut government overreach, reduce taxes and regulations, and address concerns about public education.
