Gregorio Roman is an incumbent judge for the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, having assumed office in 2013. He was appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. in May 2013. Prior to his appointment, his career included serving as a deputy alternate public defender and senior trial attorney for the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender's Office from 1994 to 2013, a deputy public defender from 1991 to 1994, and a deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County in 1989. He also worked as an associate at private law firms. Roman earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University. He is noted as an immigrant whose father worked in the U.S. under the Bracero Program.
