Hanu Karlapalem is the Democratic nominee for Alabama House District 4 in 2026. A small technology business owner and Madison resident for 26 years, he immigrated from India and is a UAH graduate. His campaign focuses on "an Alabama we can afford," built on pillars of Economy First, People First, and Constitution First. He advocates for strengthening public institutions, infrastructure, and healthcare, and supports congressional term limits. Karlapalem has accused the Republican supermajority of undermining voting rights. He previously served with the Limestone County NAACP and on the UAH Alumni Association board, reflecting a history of community involvement. He is challenging incumbent Republican Parker Moore.
