Harold V. Jones II is an incumbent Democratic State Senator representing Georgia's 22nd District, a seat he has held since January 2015. He assumed the role of Senate Democratic Leader in January 2025, having been elected to the position in 2024. Prior to his Senate service, Jones made history as the first African American elected Solicitor General for Richmond County in 2004, where he focused on prosecuting misdemeanor crimes, advocating for victims, and upholding fairness and equality. He is an active community member, with affiliations including the NAACP, Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and the Greater Augusta Arts Council. He is seeking re-election in the 2026 Democratic primary.
