Heather Matson

Heather Matson is an experienced state legislator, community leader, and advocate with 25 years of service. Currently an Iowa State Representative for District 42 and Assistant Democratic Leader, she is running for the Iowa State Senate to represent District 21, serving Ankeny residents. Matson is passionate about building community, connections, and civic engagement. Her platform emphasizes strong public schools, reproductive freedom and maternal healthcare, affordable childcare, attainable homeownership, and economic development that prioritizes small businesses, good wages, and quality of life. She believes in fostering honest conversations and building trusted partnerships, and has voiced concerns against eliminating the state income tax.
