Ilana Rubel, a Canadian-born American politician, serves as the Democratic Minority Leader in the Idaho House of Representatives, representing south Boise's District 18 since January 2014. She is seeking re-election in 2026. Born in Toronto in 1972, Rubel's Jewish family background includes escaping pogroms and immigrating during World War II. She holds degrees from Georgetown University and Harvard Law School, and was formerly a partner at Fenwick & West, LLP. Rubel has a history of community involvement, including teaching civics in Boise schools, and brings a personal understanding of emergency pregnancy care to her legislative work.
