County Council
Hi, I'm Imara Crooms. Publicly Financed & Community First
Imara Crooms is not currently running for office on Civoren.
Imara Crooms is a community organizer and publicly financed candidate for Prince George’s County Council, District 9. He is the first candidate in the county to run using the Fair Election Fund, rejecting corporate PAC, developer, and lobbyist money in favor of a people-powered campaign rooted in honesty, accountability, and community leadership. For more than a decade, Imara worked in public service promoting democracy, anti-corruption, and civic engagement in the United States and abroad. That work taught him a simple truth: when government stops serving the public, communities pay the price. He has spent his life organizing alongside working families, educators, environmental advocates, labor leaders and equal rights activists to make sure that government works for the many, not the well-connected few. Imara lives in Upper Marlboro with his wife and daughter, where they steward a small farm and are active members of the Prince George’s County Farm Bureau. He is running to bring accessible, responsive leadership to District 9, with a focus on community-first development, strong public services and infrastructure, environmental protection, and restoring trust in county government.
