Jacob Welper

Jacob Welper is a candidate for Iowa House District 59 in the 2026 Democratic primary. A graduate of Iowa State University with a music education degree and a coaching endorsement, he previously taught as a 5th Grade/High School Band Director and high school cross-country coach. Welper has served for 11 years in the Iowa National Guard and also substitute teaches at area schools. His family has a strong history of public service in Iowa. Welper’s platform focuses on supporting farmers, advocating for public money in public schools, opposing eminent domain for private companies, and addressing property taxes. He also prioritizes healthcare affordability and access.
