James Brenner has a recorded position on five issues. Each is Civoren's summary of the campaign's own public material, with the source linked.
Brenner prioritizes creating more affordable housing, citing rising rents and property costs in coastal District 100 and drawing on his background founding Ghana Home Loans and Ecohomes Liberia.
“Housing affordability is a key concern, especially with escalating rent and property costs. Coastal Broward County, which includes District 100, is facing challenges in providing affordable housing options, particularly for middle-class and lower-income residents.”
Brenner wants to reform Florida's homeowners insurance system and protect residents from rising premiums and unfair costs, calling the state's insurance system 'broken.'
“I will work tirelessly to reform Florida's broken insurance system, implement fair condo regulations, and create policies that protect homeowners from unfair costs.”
Brenner calls for action on climate change and coastal resilience, pointing to District 100's vulnerability to sea-level rise, flooding, and coastal erosion.
“As a coastal district, District 100 is highly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, including rising sea levels, flooding, and coastal erosion.”
Brenner, a gay man, pledges to defend LGBTQ+ protections, which he says are under attack by an 'extremist agenda in Tallahassee.'
“As a gay man who has lived through periods of repression, I know how crucial it is to fight for equality.”
Brenner supports abortion rights and backed Florida's Amendment 4, framing bodily autonomy and access to safe, legal abortion as fundamental rights.
“I support a woman's right to choose because I believe in the fundamental principle of bodily autonomy and that individuals should have the freedom to make personal healthcare decisions without interference from the government.”
