James C. Arena-DeRosa is the Democratic State Representative for the 8th Middlesex District (Holliston, Hopkinton, Sherborn, and precincts 2 and 3 of Millis), first elected in 2022. The grandson of Italian immigrants, he was raised in Walpole and has lived in Holliston since the early 1990s. He graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School and from Harvard with honors. His public-service career includes serving as New England Director of the Peace Corps, Northeast Regional Administrator of USDA Food and Nutrition, Director of Public Advocacy for Oxfam America, CEO of Foodshare, and Special Assistant to the Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. Locally he has served on the Holliston Finance Committee and chaired the Holliston Democratic Town Committee.
