James D. Ruchti

James Ruchti is an Idaho State Senator for District 29, dedicated to an Idaho that works for all. A proud husband and father of two, he is a former U.S. Army military intelligence officer, trial lawyer, and small business owner. Born and raised in Pocatello, he graduated from Pocatello High School, the United States Military Academy, and the University of Idaho College of Law. His legislative priorities include protecting public education, safeguarding public lands, and supporting working families. He champions affordable higher education, addressing teacher shortages, securing voting, expanding Medicaid, and reforming property taxes. He strives to deliver localized representation, craft good legislation, and unite across the aisle to improve the lives of Idahoans. He ran to protect public education and ensure the best for Pocatello.
