James Emerson Ashburn is a Republican candidate running for the Maryland House of Delegates in Legislative District 28. A veteran of the United States Navy, he served for eight years as a Nuclear Machinist Mate. Following his military service, Ashburn embarked on a thirty-two-year career at the Calvert County Nuclear Power Plant, where he earned a Reactor Operator License from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). A graduate of McDonough High School, Ashburn has also demonstrated a commitment to his local community through his past service as a member of the Waldorf Fire Company 3. He previously advanced from the Republican primary for the same office in the 2022 election cycle.
