James M. Murphy is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 4th Norfolk District (Weymouth) since 2001. A lifelong Weymouth resident, he graduated from Merrimack College and Suffolk University Law School, then served as a judicial clerk at the Massachusetts Appeals Court and as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney; he is an attorney by profession. He chairs the Joint Committee on Financial Services and has previously chaired the Election Laws, Public Service, and Steering, Policy and Scheduling committees.
