James Stockton is a native of Columbus, Ohio. His career experience includes serving as the senior pastor of Greater New Hope Church in Ocala, Florida, and the presiding bishop of the Tabernacle of Praise International Church (TOPIC). He also served as the director of student and special programs at West Virginia State University. He has served as chair of the board of the Marion County Florida Continuum of Care on Homelessness and as a former president of the Marion County branch of the NAACP.
