James T. Shockman currently serves as a District Judge for North Dakota's Southeast Judicial District, a position he was appointed to by Governor Doug Burgum in 2024. A native of Berlin, North Dakota, Judge Shockman remains active on his family's farm. He earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 2011, practicing privately in Arizona and North Dakota, and served as LaMoure County State's Attorney from 2019 to 2023. He is now seeking election for District Court Judge, District Southeast, Seat 1, in the 2026 North Dakota Primary Election.
