Jamescita Peshlakai, a Democrat and proud member of the Navajo Nation, is running for election to the Arizona State Senate representing District 6 in the 2026 primary. A U.S. Army veteran of the Persian Gulf War, she previously served in the Arizona State Senate from 2017 to 2021 and the Arizona House of Representatives from 2013 to 2015. Peshlakai holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Northern Arizona University. Her professional experience includes roles as a Native American liaison for the U.S. Department of the Interior, policy director for the Arizona Foundation For Women, and she was appointed to the Arizona State Transportation Board in 2025. She is campaigning with the goal of contributing to a Democratic-led Legislature.
