Jane Aras was elected to the School Board in 2021 and currently serves as the board's legislative representative. Born in South Korea, she was adopted and immigrated to the United States as a child. She holds a bachelor's degree in special education from Gonzaga University and a master's degree in special education from the University of Washington. Aras has over 25 years of experience in education and advocacy, having worked as both a general and special education teacher. She has been an active volunteer in the district, serving on various committees, including the PTSA and the district's Equity for Children Collaborative. She is a mother of three adult children who went through the Bellevue school system.
