Jared Nieuwenhuis was first elected to the Bellevue City Council in November 2017 and served as Deputy Mayor from 2020 to 2023. He is the senior manager of local government relations with Ziply Fiber. An immigrant from Canada and the son of Dutch parents, he has lived in Bellevue since 2001. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and pursued graduate studies at Brown University. Prior to his council role, he served on the Bellevue Parks & Community Services Board and the boards of LifeWire and The Sophia Way.
