Jared Nieuwenhuis was first elected to the council in November 2017 and served as Deputy Mayor from 2020 to 2023. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and pursued graduate studies at Brown University. In his professional life, he is the senior manager of local government relations with Ziply Fiber. Before joining the council, he served on the Bellevue Parks & Community Services Board and has been involved with organizations like Lifewire and The Sophia Way. An immigrant from Canada and the son of Dutch parents, he has lived in Bellevue since 2001.
