Jason L Powell

Jason L. Powell, born in Nashville in 1978, is an American politician representing District 53 in the Tennessee House of Representatives since 2013. A Democrat, he previously served as Democratic floor leader and whip. Powell, educated at the University of Colorado, Memphis, and Tennessee State, seeks reelection. His policy stances include opposing toll lanes, supporting Nashville's transit plan and an Amtrak line to Atlanta, and advocating for increased housing supply, first-time homebuyer assistance, and universal pre-K. He opposes school vouchers and supports exceptions to and repeal of Tennessee's abortion ban.
