Jason Smith

Jason Smith was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1996 with a B.A. in Business/Economics and was commissioned in the United States Army Reserve. He earned a Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1999. In 2003, he was deployed to Iraq for 15 months and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 2005. Smith began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in Prosecutorial District 6 in 2010, handling cases ranging from white-collar crimes to homicides. Prior to this, he had a private law practice and served as corporate counsel. He won the election for District Attorney in November 2024. He and his wife, Tamara, have four children and live in the Wilmington area.
