Jay Fisher

Jay Fisher, a native of Minot, North Dakota, is seeking election to the North Dakota State Senate for the 5th legislative district in the 2026 primary election as a Republican. He is unopposed in the Republican primary. Fisher currently represents District 5 in the North Dakota House of Representatives, having assumed office in December 2018. Before his legislative career, he served as the director of the North Central Research Extension Center at North Dakota State University from 1994 to 2015, and since 2016, he has worked as an agronomist for Fisher Research LLC. He holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in agronomy and crop science from North Dakota State University. He is running to succeed retiring Republican Senator Randy Burckhard.
