Jean Marie Christy is a native of Buncombe County and the current Clerk of Superior Court. She was appointed to the position on April 1, 2023, by the Senior Resident Superior Court Judge. Prior to her appointment, she served as an Assistant Public Defender in Buncombe County. Christy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. Her father, Bob Christy, also served as the Buncombe County Clerk of Superior Court from 1990 to 2008.
