Jeff Yarbro is an incumbent Democratic State Senator representing District 21 in Tennessee, a position he has held since November 2014. A native of Dyersburg, Tennessee, he earned his B.A. from Harvard University and J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Virginia Law Review. Professionally, he is a counsel focusing on complex civil, securities, and class action litigation. Yarbro has a strong background in public service, having clerked for Judge Gilbert Merritt and served as an education policy adviser to former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean. He is actively involved in community initiatives, including public education and transit, and has held leadership roles within the Tennessee Senate Democratic Caucus, including Democratic Leader from 2018 to 2023. He is currently running for re-election in the 2026 Democratic primary.
