Jeffrey Nieman is a lifelong resident of Orange County and lives in Chapel Hill. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Central University School of Law. Prior to being elected District Attorney in 2022, he served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the same office for over 16 years. During his time as an assistant DA, he co-founded the Driver's License Restoration Project, created the Outreach Court to provide alternatives to incarceration for individuals experiencing homelessness, and was an advocate for the "Raise the Age" law change.
