Alderks holds a Masters of Public Administration, a certificate in Public Policy and Leadership from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and an Advanced Certificate in Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. Before her council role, she was a doula for ten years, served on the city's Planning Commission from 2020-2022, and was involved in community advocacy with groups like the Kenmore Bothell Interfaith Group and Anti-Racist Communities: Bothell.
