Dr. Jeremy W. Grisham is a licensed mental health counselor, educator, ecotherapist, and decorated U.S. Navy veteran whose work bridges trauma recovery, ecological justice, and socially responsive leadership. With over two decades of experience in clinical mental health, public service, higher education, and community-based healing, Dr. Grisham has become a recognized leader in trauma-informed care and the development of reciprocal ecotherapies—healing practices that restore both human and natural systems. As a candidate for Snohomish County’s Charter Review Committee, District 4, Dr. Grisham is focused on serving Snohomish County with honor and integrity, regardless of anyone’s political affiliation. As an elected official, Dr. Grisham is dedicated to considering every voice as we evaluate how Snohomish County self-governs. His focus as candidate is to bring communities of Snohomish County Together, for the benefit of all. Dr. Grisham currently serves as Director of Disability Support Services at a local and national private, non-profit University, where he also teaches undergraduate coursework on resilience, trauma, psychology & the environment, family systems, death, dying & grief, life transitions, and adult/human development. His educational background includes a Doctor of Education in Critical Pedagogy and Liberation Psychology, a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a lifelong commitment to addressing systemic, military, and generational trauma. As a former Director of Counseling and Wellness at the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, he managed statewide mental health programming and led clinical, fiscal, and equity-based initiatives serving thousands of veterans and their families. A published author, public speaker, and committed community leader, Dr. Grisham has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal (x5), Hospital Corpsman of the Year, and the Transforming Lives Award from the Association of College Trustees. His work has been featured by organizations like the Nature Conservancy and the Washington State Department of Ecology. Throughout his career—from battlefield triage to executive policy, from classroom to creek bed—Dr. Grisham has championed the healing power of relationship, reflection, and responsibility to self, others, and the Earth.
