Jim Desmond is a U.S. Navy veteran, retired Delta Air Lines pilot, and the current San Diego County Supervisor for District 5. He previously served as the Mayor of San Marcos from 2006 to 2018. A Republican, Desmond is running for the U.S. House of Representatives to represent California's 48th Congressional District in the 2026 election, seeking to succeed retiring incumbent Rep. Darrell Issa.
