Jim Wass is the Republican candidate for State Senator in Maryland's Legislative District 22. A resident of Riverdale since 1986, he works as a Business Process Analyst, providing consulting for government and private sector clients. Wass has been a Republican and conservative activist since 2004 and has a long history of leadership within the Prince George's County Republican Central Committee. His roles on the committee have included Secretary, Vice Chairman, and Chairman; he currently serves as the 1st Vice Chair. In addition to his party involvement, Wass served as a director for the group Reopen Maryland, which advocated for the relaxation of public health restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
