John A. Cowan Jr. is a Georgia neurosurgeon and small business owner. A conservative Republican, he earned a B.A. in Physics from Davidson College in 1997. He has practiced neurosurgery in northwest Georgia and held leadership roles in the Georgia Neurosurgical Society. Cowan is a candidate for Georgia’s 11th Congressional District in the 2026 primary election. He previously sought the Republican nomination in the 14th Congressional District in 2020. His policy positions include advocating for free-market policies, tax code reform, and fiscal restraint. While he supported short-term stimulus during COVID-19, he also voiced concerns about long-term federal debt and opposed continued large deficit spending.
