John Norris is a U.S. Army veteran who enlisted two weeks after the September 11, 2001 attacks and served for over a decade. He earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Bridgewater State University, worked as a protein chemist for Biolegend and Pharmaron, then earned his law degree at night from the Massachusetts School of Law. He opened Norris Law P.L.L.C., a veteran-owned law firm, and served the Town of Bridgewater as a Town Councilor. He is a husband and father of two.

SupportsNorris's stated food-system priorities include streamlining permitting and licensing for farm stands, cottage food producers, on-farm processing, agritourism and direct-to-consumer sales; slaughterhouse permitting reform; predictable funding for the Healthy Incentives Program; and strengthening the Agricultural Preservation Restriction program and Chapter 61A so working farmland is taxed as working land.

The greatest threat to Massachusetts farmland is that it's worth more dead than alive... hit by an estate tax that forces heirs to sell the back land to pay the bill on the front.”
