John Hines is a candidate for Mayor of Tacoma in Tacoma, Washington — 2025 General Election. Running as Nonpartisan.

John Hines is a Tacoma native and a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of Puget Sound. He is serving his second term as a councilmember for District 1, having been first elected in 2019 and reelected in 2023. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2024. In addition to his council duties, he is the Instructional Facilitator for Academic Acceleration for Tacoma Public Schools. Before his election in 2019, he served on the Tacoma Public Library Board of Trustees and the YWCA Board.
