John K. Benson

Professional civil engineer and graduate of Vermont Technical College (1973), licensed as an engineer in Vermont in 1993. He spent nearly five decades at the Randolph engineering firm DuBois & King, Inc., retiring as its managing partner in 2021, and was named Vermont's Engineer of the Year in 2018 and served as president of the Vermont Society of Engineers. A long-serving Brookfield public servant, he served 16 years on the Brookfield Selectboard (half of them as chair), more than 35 years with the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department (28 as fire chief), and as the town's Emergency Management Coordinator. He was appointed to the Vermont Senate by Gov. Phil Scott in January 2026. He has been married for 50 years and raised two sons.
