John Mason is a candidate for Wahkiakum County Sheriff Special Election in Cathlamet, Washington — 2025 General Election. Running as Independent Party.

John Mason is a Cathlamet native who has served in the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's office for over a decade as a deputy and sergeant. In July 2024, upon the retirement of Sheriff Mark Howie, Mason was appointed as the new sheriff by the Board of County Commissioners, with the recommendation of his predecessor. According to endorsements, he finished first overall in his class at the Law Enforcement Academy. He is running to retain the position and serve out the remainder of the term.
