Johnny Davis is a retired teacher and coach of 35 years. He also taught driver's education for 20 years. Originally from Kinston, he graduated from Fayetteville State University and began working in Ayden in 1968 at the historic South Ayden High School. He has served two terms (eight years) on the Ayden Board of Commissioners. Davis has received The Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2010, was named Ayden Citizen of the Year in 2013, and received the Ayden Legend Award in 2024.
