Jonathan Karlen, born August 27, 1999, is an incumbent Democratic State Representative for Montana House District 98, encompassing Missoula. He previously served in HD 96 and is currently the Democratic Whip. Karlen earned degrees in wildlife biology, climate change studies, and public administration from the University of Montana, where he also worked as a research associate. He is known for sponsoring legislation on wildlife data, tenant rights, and professional licensing board appointments. He also served on Missoula's Climate and Energy board and is one of the youngest state legislators.
