Jonathan Kiper

Jon Kiper is a small business owner, former Newmarket town councilor, and community activist who ran for New Hampshire governor as an independent. He owned and operated Jonny Boston's International, a popular Newmarket restaurant, for a decade, and previously ran for governor in 2024 as a Democrat, finishing third in the primary. He co-founded the Newmarket Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention in 2015 and served on the Newmarket Zoning Board, the Energy and Environment Committee, and the Town Council, where he supported legalizing tiny homes and wrote an ordinance allowing sidewalk alcohol service. He recorded two albums under the band name Jesus is a Jedi and published books including 'Dream Detectives: Something Funny About the Cake' (a finalist for the New Hampshire Children's Book Award) and 'A Ghost in the Darkness: The True Story of the Vicki Bader Murder.' He lives in Newmarket with his son Ollie and partner Emily, and his campaign centered on housing affordability, school funding reform, and cannabis legalization under the 'Community First' banner.
