Joseph D. Early, Jr. is the Worcester County (Middle District) District Attorney, first elected in 2006 with 78% of the vote. A Worcester native and the oldest of eight children of former U.S. Rep. Joseph D. Early, he graduated from Holy Name High School, Williston-Northampton Academy, the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Georgetown University Law Center. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Hampden County (1985-1988), worked in the trial division of the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, and ran his own civil and criminal litigation practice for 17 years before taking office in January 2007. He oversees more than 80 prosecutors serving the 60 communities of the Middle District. He lives in Worcester with his wife Judy and their five children.
