Joseph Van Vactor Jr. is a retired United States Air Force veteran, educator, and Disaster Project Manager. He filed as a No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate for Florida's 3rd Congressional District in the 2026 election but did not qualify, and his campaign site now identifies him as a candidate for Florida's Lieutenant Governor.
Joseph Van Vactor Jr has a recorded position on five issues. Each is Civoren's summary of the campaign's own public material, with the source linked.
Van Vactor's campaign accepts no corporate donations and is funded solely by the people; his mission is to sweep corruption out of Florida and stop foreign and corporate money out of elections, with no party strings or corporate donor demands.
“Our campaign is funded solely by the people, ensuring our independence is absolute. Our mission is to sweep the corruption out of Florida, tackle Home and Health Insurance, bring school voucher money back to public schools, support our farmers/ranchers and stop foreign money, along with corporate money, out of our elections. No party strings, no corporate donor demands-just a state government that finally works for the people.”
Supports a Balanced Budget Amendment, limiting continuing resolutions, and rejecting 'trickle-down' economics to address the national debt, paired with fair taxation closing corporate loopholes.
“Enact a Balanced Budget Amendment... We must stop the cycle of endless spending deficit... reject 'Trickle-Down' Economics... Closing corporate tax loopholes and ensuring the wealthiest pay their fair share.”

Van Vactor's 'Healthcare Independence' plan supports letting any Floridian purchase lower-cost health insurance according to income (a government-backed public option), letting employers lower their workers' compensation insurance, and giving veterans a dual-track choice between the VA and the public option, while letting people keep their private insurance if they like it.
“Our plan is simple: First, we want any Floridian to have the ability to purchase Lower Cost Health Insurance according to your income. If you like your private insurance, keep it. But if that private plan is bleeding you dry with premiums and deductibles, you should have the right to choose a government-backed option that puts people over profits. Second, we want to give every employer the power to lower their workmans compensation insurance.”
Van Vactor opposes diverting public school funds to private, for-profit schools and private for-profit use of school board properties for commercial operations, and supports keeping public school funds dedicated to public schools.
“I am committed to protecting public education by ensuring that public school funds remain dedicated to public schools - not diverted to private, for-profit companies. ... I also oppose allowing private, for-profit entities to use school board properties for commercial operations.”
Van Vactor's 'No Veteran Left Behind' plan calls for building a veterans community near a VA hospital, with dignified housing, on-site counseling and health support, and vocational training to end veteran homelessness in Florida.
“Veteran homelessness is a crisis we can no longer ignore. In Florida, there is approximately [redacted] to sleep. ... I have a vision to provide veterans with not only needed shelter, but dignity, healing and purpose.”
