A Miami native and small business owner, he earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Florida International University. Before his election, Porras gained legislative experience working in the offices of U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott. In the state legislature, his priorities have included homeowner's association reform and tax policies.
