Julia Reed, a fourth-generation Washingtonian born in Redmond, serves as a State Representative for Washington’s 36th Legislative District, a position she assumed in 2023. Educated at Smith College and Princeton University, her career spans social impact consulting, service in the Obama administration, and as a senior policy advisor to the mayor of Seattle. Reed was motivated to run by millennials' struggles with housing, childcare, and environmental issues. In the legislature, she champions postsecondary education access, housing policy, and the arts. She is the founder of the Democratic Maritime Caucus and an Assistant Majority Whip, seeking re-election in 2026.
