Julie Mayfield

Julie Mayfield is an attorney and environmental advocate born in Atlanta, Georgia, who currently resides in Asheville, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in religion from Davidson College in 1989 and a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 1996. Her career includes roles at Amnesty International USA, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, and as an attorney at Kilpatrick Stockton LLP. She has extensive experience in environmental work, having been the Vice President and General Counsel for the Georgia Conservancy and the co-director of MountainTrue. Before her election to the State Senate in 2020, Mayfield served on the Asheville City Council for five years, beginning in 2015.
