JW Foster is a former Mayor of Yelm, having served from 2016 to 2021. He was first elected to the City Council in 2011 and was re-elected in 2015. A 30-year resident of Yelm, Foster is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic with 34 years of service and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He has also served on the Yelm Planning Commission and has been involved with numerous county boards and community organizations, including the Thurston Regional Planning Council and the Nisqually Land Trust.
