Karen Howe has been a resident of Sammamish for over 30 years. She was elected to the City Council in 2021 after two unsuccessful runs. The council selected her to serve as Mayor in January 2025. Her community service includes serving on the boards of Eastside Fire and Rescue, A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH), Eastside Human Services Forum, and the YMCA Advisory Board, among others.
