Kate Donaghue is the Democratic State Representative for Massachusetts' 19th Worcester District, serving parts of Westborough, Northborough, Southborough, and Framingham since January 2023. She grew up in a large family and put herself through college in Westborough, later earning graduate degrees as a medical technologist and a software developer. After her son Brian died of an overdose in 2018, she organized Beacon Hill lobbying days on addiction treatment and serves on the Attorney General's opioid-focused Family Advisory Council; after losing her husband Kimball to cancer in 2021, she joined the Patient and Family Advisory Council at UMass Memorial Medical. A longtime conservation volunteer and former chair of the Long Trail Protection Fund Committee (which helped protect over 25,000 acres), she campaigns on improving healthcare, fighting climate change, and supporting public education.
