Kate Telis is a former prosecutor who moved to Spokane in 2019. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Colby College in 2005 and a J.D. from George Mason University Law School in 2012. Her legal career includes working as an Assistant District Attorney in New Mexico, where she prosecuted domestic violence felonies from 2014 to 2015, and establishing her own law office consulting on cases involving sex trafficking and excessive use of force by law enforcement from 2017 to 2019. She also served as a judicial law clerk in Fairfax, Virginia, from 2012 to 2013. Since moving to Spokane, Telis has been a self-described "professional volunteer," working with organizations like the League of Women Voters and leading the Spokane chapter of Moms Demand Action. She has also been involved in several political campaigns for progressive candidates.
